How to Handle Your Prints

Giclee Print Handling Guide:

1. Be careful opening and removing the rolled print. ( If the seals on the prints are already open or damaged your artwork in transit, please reach out to us)

2. When handling prints on paper, you should try and touch the paper as little as possible and avoid touching the image area entirely. Clean and dry your hands or wear cotton gloves when handling your art.

3. After unrolling the print, let it rest for a day to relax and avoid wrinkles.

4. The next day, lay it flat and gently weigh the corners down with a heavy item, like a book.

5. In a couple of days, the print should be flat enough to frame!

6. Storing your print: if your print is not framed, keep it in the tube or store it flat between the tissue papers away from sunlight and anything that might crease it.

Environment:

The environment your print lives in plays a significant role in the protection of your work of art.

-Light - keep out of direct sunlight (especially south-facing light) and high-intensity artificial light. If you decide to frame your print, look into using UV protection glass/plexiglass.

-Temperature - keep prints in a cool environment, preferably within the range of 60°-72° F (16°-22°C). Don't hang prints near areas that get too hot or cold, like fireplaces, radiators, or air-conditioners. Warm or moist conditions accelerate deterioration and encourage mold growth and insect activity.

-Avoid hanging your fine art print somewhere that is very humid, like a steamy bathroom or next to a humidifier.

-Pollution - keep away from dust, dirt, and other pollutants for the best protection. A little surface dust can be very gently brushed off with a dry cloth,

-Pests - Keep away from insects and pests because some like to eat paper (mmm, yum).

              Framing Guide for your prints:

Good quality mounting and framing is one of the most effective methods of preserving and caring for works of art on paper.

Custom frames are recommended for high-quality prints. You can go to a framing store and have them customize the size and design for your print. This option can be more expensive.

Ready-made frames are an inexpensive option if the dimensions fit. You can find suggestions for each piece on the shop page.
